PC to Mac - Does Anyone Look Back?

Last week, my wife conspired with my business partner to crush my Verizon phone, literally. Her text messages weren't getting through to me. Before long, James had my phone in one hand and a hammer in the other.
The new iphone was its replacement, happening the same week of giving my Dell to Stepan as part of forcing my use of the new MacBook Pro that had been sitting on my desk unopened for two weeks. BTW, Stepan has his own MacBook Pro, and is only keeping the Dell until somebody here needs a better PC.
Supposedly, I have been thrust into "the brave new world." Each day is getting easier, but there is still pain (enough for me to blog about it here). I'd like to think I'm somebody who embraces change. But as I look at this ultra small type on my new higher screen resolution, and consider how my old cell reception in my house was better than I have now -- I'm not so sure.
I can't help but wonder if anyone who converts from PC to Mac looks back... or more importantly, actually goes back. All comments graciously welcomed.

Looks like Google Calendar Team won a trip to a tropical paradise.

Today, Google Calendar Team announced the immediate availability of Google Calendar on the iPhone. Seems like they beat GMail, Google Reader and Google Docs to the punch.
Congrats to them, now go over and help Google Reader Team out.

iPhone - Argh - I love it

Yes, we got a couple. I was one of the two lucky recipients here at Room 214. The experience has been amazing, but not a smooth road.
The set up was simple and brilliant through iTunes. The phone, mail, web browsing and iPod funtions are amazing.
But there are bugs. Kris' iPhone kept freezing up while moving from application to application and inputting data. I was laughing at him, bragging that he got a bum phone, then I got bit. My phone simply shut down and did not come back on. Add to that the new version of iTunes wipped out all my settings, and I was getting a little on weepy side.
The two of us went into the Apple store in Boulder seeking counseling for our depression and to get our phones working again.
The store experience was awesome. They took my phone and fixed it, and tested Kris' phone and gave him a new replacement.
Beyond the coolness of the phone, we got these to begin testing application development. The race is on for cool iPhone applications.
This phone will most certainly change the way we look at mobile communications. it's changed mine already.

The iPhone - A Podcasting Revolution

Okay, I can't resist and will join the throngs of other bloggers talking about Apple's announcement today about the iPhone.
Congratulations to Cingular for also being a believer in Apple's ability to deliver industry break out products.
Two things that get me most excited.
1. The phone runs on OSX with support for Widgets, Google Maps, and Safari, and iTunes combined with WiFi that automatically engages when in signal range. This gives us in the conversational media world an entirely new set of customers to reach out to. The possibilities are plentiful.
2. iTunes. I know I listed this above, but it's enough to bring it up again. As an organization that believes in the power of podcasting - simple easy access to your iTunes account and podcast subscriptions opens up the medium to even larger audience. Yes, Cingular already has iTunes enabled phones, but the combination of iTunes with the Safari browser allows for greater real-time interaction.
Funny thing is that I was just at a Verizon Wireless store to upgrade my phones, but it required me renewing my contract for another 2 years. Luckily I resisted and came to my senses.
Cingular - you've got a new customer. Apple, you've got a loyal fan.
